Suite101 e-Book Canadian Women of History
Introduction

This book contains biographies of Canadian women who have left their mark on history. They've demonstrated courage and overcome hardships and insurmountable odds in their quest to make Canada a better place to live.

These women come from every walk of life - from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. They've struggled to make themselves heard in a world that belonged mainly to men. They are women of inspiration, who followed their dreams and saw them realized. They will inspire you to follow your dreams as well.

You will meet a nurse who fought the Canadian government to bring a cure for cancer to the world; a Native Canadian poet and another Native Canadian who watched her people disappear into extinction. Several African Canadian women fought for equality and gave future generations the dream of equality.

This book covers only a small number of the women who helped to make Canada great. I hope you enjoy reading their stories.
